Well, it’s been a while since I blogged some work! We took a little hiatus from working, blogging, social media-ing, everything to have our second baby girl (more on her probably next week) but we were excited to get back to it and couldn’t have hasked for a better couple to kick off the 2013 wedding season than Beth & Chad! They are one super sweet couple, with a long history of friendship turned love affair — and boy can they throw a fun party!

Dear Mom

Hi Momma,

Happy Birthday! I seem to start my letter off the same every year…something about how crazy life has been and how much is going on. Nothing’s changed…and I kind of like it that way. I used to think that each year life could get a little calmer, a little less ‘crazy’ but then I step back and think how boring it would be without the constant surprises, twists and turns life brings us. One surprise I could have done without, of course, was losing you a few years ago. However, we’ve had a very special surprise this past year with A, your newest granddaughter. I think you would be thrilled to have 2 little girls running around calling you Grandma! She’s precious and perfect and I so wish you could meet her.

E is constantly changing and hits us with something new every day. I’m sure you’ve been watching, whispering “I told you so” when she does something I never thought one of my children would ever do! She’s very headstrong and independent, just like you always thought my child would be…just like you and me ;) She’s also very smart and tells us jokes and stories all the time…she tells us about her dreams, what she wants to be when she grows up (which usually changes depending on the theme of the day on Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood or Sesame Street) and how much she loves bugs! The ladybugs are her best friends and she is always so heartbroken when one flies away…she’s a tender soul. I’ve been sewing things for her lately, I’m currently making her a cape because every superhero needs a cape and every time I pull out your old sewing machine it reminds me of you and how you so loved to sit behind it and do your handy work.

I never make these letters very long because, honestly, I can’t hardly make it through them…and I talk to you all the time anyway. I know your birthday was never much fun for you, especially after the bombing, but it will always be special to me and it will always be a day in which I too remember you and what a remarkable woman you were. Things weren’t perfect, but you were my mother and I miss you.

The picture is one of your necklace’s…I think you had this one since you were a teenager, at least. Since you and A now share a birthstone, I’m giving this necklace to her so that she will always have something of yours close to her. I love you…I miss you.

Maternity Swap

As I’m sure you all know by now, we are expecting our second baby girl any day now (ohmigosh I can’t hardly wait…I’m SO ready) aaaaand one of my very best friends Lauren Clark is also expecting her second baby boy just about 2 weeks after me! It’s been so much fun having a preggy momma friend along for the ride with me and, naturally, since we’re both photographers we decided it would be fun to swap maternity photos! I didn’t do maternity photos with E so this was a fun experience! Since Lauren and I are both getting ready to pop anytime now, I decided to get a few of my favorites out there while they’re still relevant ;)

Krystal & Cody are just a ball full of love and laughter — they giggled and smiled throughout their whole session and more than anything I think they were just so happy to be together! They are currently in a long distance relationship but they can’t wait to bring their lives together as one in June…and neither can we!
